Wing (Alphabet company)

As a Motion Designer at Wing, I art directed and pioneered the integration of 3D animation into our Marketing and Partnership team's efforts to enhance the understanding of drone delivery.

By utilizing 3D visuals, I addressed the limitations of 2D motion, video, and photography, creating a captivating and immersive experience.

Through meticulous iterations, I refined our 3D brand look, effectively conveying the intricacies of our operations. This innovative approach played a crucial role in securing 12 contracts for the Partnership team, showcasing 3D animation in driving tangible results.

First version

To ensure smooth rendering and export of the animation, I opted for low-poly models in this version. I gave the models beveled edges which added to the polished friendly look. However, the resulting aesthetic appeared overly cartoony due to the chosen colors.

Second version

The muted colors of the homes in this version directed attention to the key objects in the scene, specifically the different locations the drone would visit during its flights. This aimed to highlight the flight flow of Wing's drone delivery. Although the colors successfully shifted focus to the essential aspects of the animation, they still conveyed a slightly cartoony feel. I also revisited the models and started exploring alternative designs.

Third version

This version took a contrasting approach compared to previous designs. It embraced a utilitarian, modern, and clean aesthetic. The homes were simplified to cubes, while the overall scene featured a predominantly grey color scheme, accentuating the points of interest to draw attention to the crucial elements of the animation.

Final version

The final version achieved a harmonious blend of friendly, modern, and focused aesthetics. I also introduced 3D characters and made updates to the buildings, vehicles, and the drone.

Expedition 100

Dive into my creative journey with an online course project called Expedition 100, a fictional show centered around a daring mission to Mars. Charged with evoking a sense of fear and the otherworldly, I meticulously crafted six compelling style frames that capture the spine-tingling essence of outer space, setting the stage for an immersive and thrilling visual experience.

Wing drone demo van design

Wing tasked me with creating a branded van that could transport drones to delivery demos and generate advocacy among key audiences. I designed a utilitarian-style van with playful elements and created a new vector illustration with perspective to the back of the van.
